On Saturday morning, Oct. 17, a very special event will once again take place on the roads of Oyster Bay—the annual Oyster Festival 5 Kilometer Run. We have a new route for the run this year and the new map is enclosed.
The run will start on South Street at 9 a.m. on the morning of the 17th. We expect that the run will attract more than 700 runners and we need your help to assure the safety of these guests in the Oyster Bay community.
We are asking if at all possible that you avoid driving the route of the run for the short period of time that the runners will be on the roads. The last finisher should cross the finish line in the Townsend Square Parking Lot no later than 9:45 a.m. and the course will be totally re-opened to vehicular traffic immediately thereafter. We will, of course, make every effort to minimize any inconvenience.
We hope that as many of you as possible will be on hand to cheer the participants along their way, and of course, we always welcome volunteers.
Thanks very much in advance for your understanding and your cooperation. If you have any questions about the run, please don’t hesitate to call me at 516-349-7646.
