According to Nassau County detectives, a male subject entered the Citgo Gas station 1 Powerhouse Rd. on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 2:32 a.m. and demanded money. The subject kept his right hand inside his pocket simulating as if he had a firearm. The 49-year-old male victim complied with an undetermined amount of US currency. The subject, detectives said, then fled on foot across Powerhouse Road onto Roslyn Road. Third Precinct officers searching the area observed a male fitting the description of the subject walking in the rear of 261 Parkside Drive. After an investigation officers arrested defendant Matthew Williams of New Hyde Park. No weapon was recovered. There were no reported injuries.
The defendant is being charged with Robbery 1st Degree and Robbery 3rd Degree. He was arraigned on Wednesday, Oct. 14 at First District Court, Hempstead.
