George Lucas & the Creation of Star Wars
At the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library, 7 p.m. Star Wars—Episode VII: The Force Awakens will hit movie theaters soon—the most anticipated film of the year and the first new Star Wars film in more than a decade. Film historian Clive Young will present lots of thrilling, rare footage and to trace the history of the original Star Wars trilogy that writer/director George Lucas created between 1975 and 1983. Finance Workshop
The Youth and Family Counseling Agency of Oyster Bay will be hosting an informative program to help nonprofit board members stay updated about nonprofit financial and legal regulations. As the fiduciary landscape continues to evolve, the agency wants to make sure all of its board members—as well as board members for all nonprofits within the OBEN community—are aware of their responsibilities for themselves and the nonprofits they represent. Historic Haunts
At 7 p.m., the Oyster Bay Historical Society welcomes award-winning author and historian Kerriann Flanagan Brosky to the Koenig Center for a discussion of her latest book Historic Haunts of Long Island: Ghosts and Legends from the Gold Coast to Montauk Point.
A Night In Italy

Dragons and Dreams
At Locust Valley Library, 2 p.m. Suitable for kids in grades kindergarten through fifth. Learn all about dry ice and the shifting states of matter through the tale of Dragons & Dreams. Wouldn’t dragons’ breath be an amazing sight? Well, get ready to see it, feel it, maybe even taste it. Reading To Dogs
At the Bayville Free Library from 4 to 5 p.m. Children in grades K-5 can read to a trained therapy dog from Bidawee at the library. Register in person for one 15-minute session per child.
Chiropractic & Optimal Health: How Does Our Body Work?
This program at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Library will discuss the function of the body and how physical, chemical and emotional stresses cause damage in the body. Dr. Brian Goldberg will discuss how chiropractic maintains optimal function in the body and removes nervous system stress and dysfunction. Scholarship Fundraiser: Bridge Anyone?
Funding their two scholarships for horticulture students at SUNY Farmingdale is the annual Bridge and Board Game luncheon of the Locust Valley Garden Club on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Bailey Arboretum main house.
