A unique market has opened its doors at 1085 Northern Blvd. in Roslyn. The Red Maple Market is beckoning customers to try its savory sandwiches, homemade cold cuts and restaurant-quality foods. The proprietors of the market are a lovely Italian couple, Jenn and Charlie Mastropaolo. Charlie traces his lineage back to his great grandfather, who bought a butcher shop in 1916 in Brooklyn, NY and came to grow five generations of butchers as a legacy. Jenn, his wife of three years, has worked with her husband in the industry for the past 12 years. Together they bring together the best foods, spices, oils, meats and oh-so-much more for the discerning palate.
As you enter the store, you are greeted with a warm “hello” and a clean, rustic setting filled with display cases of specialty foods, fresh vegetables and refrigerated cases of delectables. There are several stations including a bakery with fresh coffee and baked-on-premises goods. Chocolates from Dylan’s Candy Bar tantalizes the taste buds. There is a grill where meats are prepared. You can purchase prime-grade lamb chops, steaks, salmon and a host of specially prepared meats. Next, the cheese selection is host to a myriad of cheeses, where you are guided by an expert who takes you through the vast selection of cheeses available. Cheese trays can be created for any size or occasion.
Red Maple Market is a cornucopia of earthly delights. According to Jenn, “Our goal is to bring to our customers a restaurant-quality meal without having to go to the restaurant.” Upon sampling the filet mignon that they use for their sandwiches, the meat was so buttery it melted on my tongue and that was just the start. Their roast beef was extraordinary. As a wife with a husband and son with a penchant for roast beef, I promptly purchased some to make sandwiches for my boys.
The Red Maple Market carries a highly sought after selection of Mancini pastas imported from Italy and exotic gourmet spices that true connoisseurs demand to create a magnificent meal, not just an every day one. On the menu are also rice bowls, which are delicious.
Ever conscious of the gluten-free market, they also carry goods that are the best in the market. The water they carry is called Fred. Fred water is from Saratoga which is bottled in a plastic flask. The market also carries Pellegrino and Perrier bottled water.
There are selections of prepared meals for one, two, or more. To complete the meal, you have a choice of fresh fruit or single-serving desserts including cheesecake, cannolis, as well as the best tasting ice cream, Ample Hill. So when you want to eat in but eat well, Red Maple Market is the place to go.
The establishment is ever conscious of the hungry, donates to Long Island Cares The Harry Chapin Food Bank and Share Our Strength No Kid Hungry organizations. The goods sold on premises are the best imported and domestic brands and everything is restaurant quality.
What is nice to know is Jenn and Charlie are from Oyster Bay, Long Island and have a vested interest in the area and in Long Island.
