With the New York Mets grabbing a World Series berth last month, what could be a more appropriate show to score a home run with audiences this fall than Damn Yankees? Theatre Box of Floral Park will present the award-winning musical featuring baseball, romance and all sorts of devil-may-care comedy as its fall production for six performances between Friday, Nov. 13, and Sunday, Nov. 22 at United Methodist Church, 35 Verbena Ave.
With a clever book by George Abbott and Douglas Wallop, Damn Yankees is the tale of Joe Hardy, a diehard baseball fan who makes a deal with devilish Mr. Applegate and tries to resist temptation of Applegate’s vixenish assistant Lola all for the sake of his favorite team winning the playoffs. Adding to the fun are the fabulous songs of Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, including “(You Gotta Have) Heart,” “Whatever Lola Wants” and “A Little Brains, A Little Talent.”
Show times are on Friday, Nov. 13, Saturday, Nov. 14, Friday, Nov. 20 and Saturday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. and on Sundays, Nov. 15, and 22 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students. For reservations and additional information visit www.theatrebox.org or call 516-900-2031.
