Movie: 5 Flights Up
The Bar Harbour auditorium will show a 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. screening of the movie 5 Flights Up starring Diane Keaton, Morgan Freeman and Cynthia Nixon. Ruth (Keaton) and Alex (Freeman) Carver have decided to cash in on their sought-after Brooklyn apartment. Volunteers Needed
The Plainedge Public Library is looking for Plainedge School District volunteers in grades six and up for children’s crafts/activities during the 2015-16 school year. All applicants are accepted into a pool of eligible volunteers who will be called upon from time to time during the year. Application packets are now available from the children’s services staff. Massapequa 5K Turkey Trot
Take part in the annual Massapequa Park 5K Turkey Trot. The race begins at 9 a.m. and starts at Lake Shore Drive, continues north until Walker Street, turns left into Mansfield Park, goes through Mansfield Park and continues south on the bike path. The course will end at Brady Park with a post event awards ceremony and raffle. Registration and check-in start at 7 a.m. on the second floor of the Senior Center. The youth fun run starts at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $30 on race day for adults and $15 for youth. For more information, call 516-313-8329.

Adopt-A-Battalion Soldier’s Drive
Come help put care packages together for troops overseas. Our volunteers sort, pack and ship items to send to the troops. NYS Mandated Reporter Classes
YES Community Counseling Center is approved by the New York State Department of Education to provide the state’s two-hour certification training for mandated reporters of child abuse and neglect. Individuals seeking employment or certification in the education or health care fields may be required to complete this course.
