Obituary: John P. Curran

John P. Curran died on Oct. 20 at the age of 70, in Calvary Hospital (Bronx). Moving to Pawling, NY, 11 years ago from Middle Village, Queens, John was born in Brooklyn on April 17, 1945 to Joseph A. and Loretta (Connaughton) Curran. He married Barbara Armstrong on Oct. 12, 1968 at Holy Cross Church, Flatbush.

Before he retired, John was a senior police administrative aid for the NYPD. John was a former member of the police department’s Emerald Society, a member of the Pawling Pistol Club, St. John’s Church, and the Historical Society of Quaker Hill and Pawling. John was an avid NY Yankees and the NY Giants fan, and he loved to walk through the Village of Pawling.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Laura Ragone and her husband Anthony of Pawling and Colleen Tannuzzo and her husband Joseph of Floral Park; three grandchildren, Zachary and Kayleigh Ragone and Allison Tannuzzo; three brothers, Thomas, Vincent, and Joseph Curran; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held on Oct. 22 at Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main St., in Pawling. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Oct. 23 at St. John’s Church, in Pawling, with burial at Quaker Hill Cemetery in Pawling. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Hospital, 1740 Eastchester Rd., Bronx, NY 10461 or the American Cancer Society.
