Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel partnered with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and State Senator Jack M. Martins to present an informational forum about planning for emergencies. The program, entitled Citizen Preparedness Corps Training Program, was held at the Great Neck Social Center.
Members of the New York National Guard presented a course which provided an introduction to responding to a disaster—man-made, natural or technological—and covered the main tasks that need to be accomplished in order to prepare, respond and recover from such an event in the community. At the end of the presentation, the floor was open to questions from the audience. Attendees were given a complimentary go-bag, which consisted of emergency supplies.
