Volunteers Needed To Visit Seniors

Family & Children’s Association (FCA), Long Island’s leading human service agency, is seeking volunteers for its Friendly Visitors program to visit lonely seniors residing in Port Washington and Glen Cove. FCA will provide training and ongoing support to volunteers, enabling them to provide companionship and once-a-week visitation to a local, homebound senior. Volunteers should be able to drive to Glen Cove or Port Washington and commit to one hour per week of socialization with their senior. Family & Children’s Association serves 9,000 seniors each year through case management, financial counseling, oversight of nursing/adult homecare and home visitation.

According to Family & Children’s Association President/CEO Jeffrey Reynolds, PhD, “The Friendly Visitor Program will add a much-needed socialization component to our cadre of services devoted to Long Island’s seniors. We assist many seniors’ goals of living independently in their homes and this program will support them in that effort.” Those interested in volunteering should email tditkoff@familyandchildrens.org or call 516-292-1300, ext. 2229.
