Two Syosset wrestlers achieved all-county status at the Nassau County Youth Wrestling Championship Tournament, which took place at Long Beach High School on Feb. 7.

Syosset’s Erik Kitograd, a sixth grader at H.B. Thompson Middle School, placed fifth in the 90 pound division for fifth and sixth graders. Jack Shaw, fifth grader at Syosset’s A.P. Willets, placed third in the 105 pound division for fifth and sixth graders.

Coach Zachery Fallah was very pleased with his wrestlers’ performance.

“Both Erik and Jack have worked very hard this season and it shows in their performance in the tournament,” he said. “I’m very proud of the effort they both put forward.”

Co-coach Bob Shaw added, “They both did a great job representing their school and community. We couldn’t be more proud of them.”

The tournament is open to all Nassau County wrestlers born between 2002 and 2008. Competitors are placed in divisions based on age/grade and weight. The top six place winners in each division achieve All-County honors and they qualify to attend the New York State Youth Wrestling Tournament later this month.
