The Select Chorus from Our Lady of Mercy Academy (OLMA) joined the legendary rock group, Foreigner, as they kicked off their acoustic tour by performing live on the NBC TODAY Show. The ladies sang the rock classic “I Want to Know What Love Is” alongside the band. Later that evening, the chorus then opened the NYCB Theatre at Westbury concert with an a cappella set and rejoined the band on stage to close the show.
Members of the select chorus sang with one of the best-selling rock bands of all time for the second year in a row. Last year, the ladies were the winners of a contest sponsored by WBAB radio station that featured more than a dozen chorus groups from Long Island.
“The girls made such a good impression on the band that Foreigner invited them back to sing with them again,” said Nick Troiani, OLMA’s select chorus musial director. “This is an extraordinary opportunity for these young women to perform with professional musicians on national television and at a sold out concert. They are truly thankful for this unique experience.”
Our Lady of Mercy Academy is an all-girls Catholic High School located in Syosset that prepares young women for the rigors of college academics while providing dynamic programs in music, art and dance. Visit www.olma.org to learn more.
