The basement of Westbury United Methodist Church will soon be filled with trains of all sizes, as Westbury Troop 233 prepares to hold their annual model train show on Saturday, March 5.

Several local groups will come together to bring nine operating model railroads, circus model displays, a LIRR/MTA T.R.A.C.K.S. Unit, and more to the event.

The event is one of two fundraisers for the scouts, said scout leader Dwayne Cox.

“It’s one of the ways the boys raise money so we can keep costs down for our activities,” said Cox. “And it’s a fun day for the Scouts and community. We encourage families to bring youngsters to visit and see the different types of trains.”

Attendees will have a chance to get up close and personal with the trains, as well as ask members from several different railroad groups about the models. The models range in size from 2 feet x 3 feet to 20 feet x 30 feet and Z scale to G Scale. There will also be snacks and lunch items available for purchase.

The show takes place on Saturday, March 5, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Westbury United Methodist Church, 265 Asbury Ave. Admission is by donation: $5 for adults, $1 for children.
