Roslyn Adult Education program has so much to offer, and it’s not too late to register for classes.
Many courses begin the week of March 7. Some of the offerings in the Computer Skills category include classes in microsoft office, Microsoft Excel, Digital Photography, basic computers, and brand new is Social Media: Get Connected. Languages offered this semester are Spanish, Italian, French and Mandarin Chinese. In the creative arts there are Drawing & Painting, Clay Sculpture, Watercolor Painting, Oil and Acrylic Painting and Piano instruction classes. Under Exercise, Fitness, Sports and Dance there are both low-impact and high-impact exercise classes, T’ai Chi, Zumba, Pilates, golf, tennis, yoga, ballroom dancing, aerobic kickboxing, basketball, and Bollywood Lifestyles to name a few. Learn a new game or craft like Mah Jongg, crochet, knitting, jewelry making, magic or bridge.
The Gourmet Chef Demonstration series will visit Galleria Ristorante in Westbury and Pearl East in Manhasset. In the Art Museum Tour series, there is still availability in the Tuesday and the second Wednesday section. A new trip this semester, The Other Borough: Unknown Treasures of Staten Island, with Art Zuckerman as the guide will take place on May 6. The New York Botanical Garden trip which includes a special exhibit, Impressionism: American Gardens on Canvas, will be guided by Lauren Kaplan, the Art Museum Series guide, and takes place June 3. Adult Education has more than 75 courses, including many new day and evening offerings for spring 2016.
Adult education continues to welcome residents of the East Williston School District and Herricks School District. Residents of all three districts pay the resident rate for course offerings and trips, and are eligible for senior citizen discounts, as well. Classes are held at both the Roslyn Adult Education and the Herricks Community Center. Details are in the catalog. Register early as many courses have limited enrollment. Registration forms can be sent via mail or fax. In-person registration is between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. Instructions are on the form. A $5 registration fee must be included. Registrations will not be taken over the phone.
