Erin Lipinsky of Great Neck raised money for this year’s Special Olympics Polar Plunge, which is being held at Hempstead Harbor Beach Park on March 5.
A longtime member of the Great Neck Spirits Basketball Team for Special Olympics and now a volunteer assistant for their Friday night program, Lipinsky learned about the slogan “Freezin’ for a Reason” for this year’s Polar Plunge, an event where all money raised will benefit the Special Olympics program.
He decided that he wanted to attempt the plunge and set out to garner donations from his friends, family and local business. In just one long weekend, Lipinsky raised more than $500.
It’s amazing what one person can accomplish when they set their mind to achieve a goal. It would be great to see a lot of people show up to cheer Erin on while he and other fundraisers brave the cold winter weather for such a worthy cause.
