Mrs. Carter’s kindergarten students at St. Peter’s School, along with volunteers from The Port Washington Garden Club, had a fun and productive morning making a bird feeder craft project.
The Garden Club set up the ingredients and assisted the children with the procedures.
The children spread their hanging pine cones with shortening and rolled them into a nourishing seed mixture until the seeds covered the entire cone.
The children enjoyed this educational project designed to raise the awareness that our feathered friends need help to be fed and nourished over the cold winter.
The children used their artistic abilities as well and decorated a bag to carry home their bird feeder.
At home, the children enjoyed hanging the feeders in their yards. They watch every day as it entices birds into their yard.
