Local Author Is Back With New Book

Last year, Massapequa author and teacher Frank Nappi had the opportunity to share his Mickey Tussler series, including The Legend of Mickey TuFrankNappi_032316Bssler (2008) and Sophomore Campaign (2012), at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Now, he is back with a third book in the trilogy, titled Welcome to the Show. For anyone who has read his work before, you can bet this new release will be just as powerful and action-packed as the first two.

“The publication of Welcome to the Show is extra special, as it marks the completion of the Mickey Tussler trilogy—something that I never imagined when I set out to write the first book,” said Nappi. “It is a proud moment in my writing career for sure.”

Welcome to the Show takes place in 1950, where we find that Mickey Tussler—the now-famous pitching prodigy with autism and a golden arm—is back for another baseball season. Talk of Mickey’s legendary exploits on the field has grown since his improbable debut two years prior, as have the fortunes of Murph and the rest of the lovable ragtag Brew Crew. Now Mickey, Murph and Lester find themselves heading to Boston to play for the Braves. But life in the major leagues is filled with fast-paced action both on and off the field, as a new series of challenges, hardships and life lessons—especially for Mickey, await, as he finds himself a long way from throwing apples into a barrel back on the farm.

Excited to continue Mickey’s journey, Nappi will be the featured author at an upcoming book talk at Rockville Centre’s bookstore Turn of the Corkscrew Books & Wine on Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m. at 110 N. Park Ave.

“I cannot think of a better way to kick off the book launch for Welcome to the Show than an author event at Turn of the Corkscrew,” said Nappi. “The store is filled with charm and character—the perfect place for a Mickey Tussler talk and signing.”
