The Mineola Junior Fire Department held it 20th annual pasta dinner recently at the Mineola Community Center. Between 700 and 1,000 people attended this traditional village affair. Chaminade High School students were on hand to help out in the serving room as they have in the past. With unlimited pasta, meatballs and salad, everyone enjoyed an afternoon to be around friends and neighbors.
Along with the main dish, guests enjoyed pulled pork supplied by Famous Dave’s restaurant in Westbury. For desserts, guests enjoyed ice cream sundaes, assorted cakes, puddings and “heavenly whites” from Churrasqueira Bairrada Restaurant. The junior firefighters also walked around the main room giving out cotton candy as a special treat.
Guests had the chance to win great prizes with the abundance of raffle baskets filled with an assortment of wonderful items, plus a silent auction.
