Giovanni Monteforte, junior at Carle Place High School, recently placed first in the area of welding in the 2016 Regional SkillsUSA Competition. For the competition, he had to follow a series of blueprints to weld an item within a specified period of time. Participants were then judged and inspected. Although this is Monteforte’s first year welding through BOCES, he has experience in the craft for the past eight years. He will be advancing to the States in Syracuse at the end of this month.
