A restaurant’s arrival on Long Island is more than just a dream come true for Italian food aficionados.

Maggiano’s Little Italy, a Chicago-based eatery boasting homemade Italian food from its scratch kitchen, opened in Garden City this past September and it has already fully involved itself in the surrounding community. Over the past 13 years on a national level, Maggiano’s has raised $6 million for Make-A-Wish, enough to grant more than 800 wishes, and hosted hundreds of wish parties and local fundraising events to benefit children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Each year, the chefs of Maggiano’s let their creativity run wild to create unique feature menus that will delight guests for a worthy cause. From April 21 through June 29, guests are invited to join their local Maggiano’s team to Eat-A-Dish for Make-A-Wish and share their dining experience on social media for an additional donation to help raise more funds for this meaningful cause.

The Garden City location’s chefs are getting involved with the cause, offering the specialty menu to its customers with Maggiano’s donating $1 to Make-A-Wish for every dish and 50 cents for every glass of Dylan’s Wish Lemonade. Menu items available from April 25 through May 25 include Asiago crusted shrimp, with mixed greens, smoked bacon and lemon vinaigrette; filet mignon and asparagus risotto with shiitake mushrooms, garlic and steak jus; and fresh berry tiramisu, with blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and a fresh berry sauce.

Then, from May 26 through June 29, the special menu will feature strawberry bruschetta, with strawberry chutney, orange fondue and prosciutto; stuffed chicken fontina, with mushrooms, tomatoes and chives; as well as the fresh berry tiramisu.

“With the ‘Eat-A-Dish for Make-A-Wish’ campaign, Maggiano’s has created a win-win situation for its guests,” said David Williams, president and chief executive officer of Make-A-Wish America. “Guests who support the campaign not only get a great meal, but they also get to make more life-changing wishes possible for wish kids nationwide.”

Besides ordering from the special menu, guest can also get involved by making donations at the restaurant. Anyone who makes a donation receives star-shaped card featuring an inspiring story of a wish kid. Guests who donate more than $10 will receive a special offer for their next Maggiano’s visit. Also, eaters are asked to share a photo of their experience at Maggiano’s on Instagram and/or Twitter using the hashtag #EataDish4MAW. Maggiano’s will donate $5 for every photo tagged with the hashtag, up to $25,000.
