Landmark Forum

I was thrilled to read about the recent forum at the Landmark Theater to discuss gun violence and the toll it takes on families. It’s such an important topic—something must be done to stop the epidemic of gun violence in our nation.

The plans discussed in your article are the ultimate in common sense: institute comprehensive background checks on all gun sales and eliminate the loopholes that allow guns to end up in the hands of dangerous people. We need our Congress to take these steps immediately!

My heart goes out to the survivors who spoke at the forum. This issue is important to me because I don’t want to see one more person go through what they’ve had to endure. Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is holding their annual march across the Brooklyn Bridge on May 7 to bring awareness to the fight for common sense gun legislation. I’ll be there, marching to make my voice heard. I hope that your readers—and all Long Islanders—will join me there. We must not rest until we end gun violence. —C. Arnone
