Athletes Invited To Triathlon Clinic

Both new and experienced triathletes, as well those who are thinking of competing in a triathlon for the first time, are invited to participate in the Runner’s Edge—Town of Oyster Bay Triathlon Clinic on May 21. The clinic will be held in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Rd. in Plainview, starting promptly at 7:30 p.m.

This event is designed to assist first time triathletes as well as for those veterans who would like their performance to improve dramatically. Highlights will include a video of previous Runner’s Edge-TOBAY Triathlons, a review of the course layout, training programs and other key ingredients of a successful triathlon experience.

Coach Jose Lopez will lead the clinic. Lopez was the winner of the first TOBAY triathlon in 1988 and a Level II USA triathlon coach with more than 25 years of experience in competing and coaching. Also on the panel will be owner of the Runner’s Edge running and multisport specialty store in Farmingdale Bob Cook, who is a veteran of several Ironman triathlons, Doug Williamson of Babylon Bike Shop and Dr. Steven Jonas, expert on preventing sports injuries and minimizing the impact of sports injuries that do occur.

Although this clinic is specifically designed for those who will be competing in the August 28 Runner’s Edge-TOBAY Triathlon, it will benefit anyone who is doing any triathlon this year. Admission to the clinic is free.
