Officer Hennessy arrested a 71-year-old Queens male for the theft of merchandise valued at $1,375 from Lord & Taylor.

Officers and detectives investigated a report of a burglary at a John Street residence. The incident occurred between 7 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. The front door to the residence was apparently forced open. Assorted jewelry was reported stolen from the residence. The investigation is ongoing.

At 11:50 p.m., a male and a female, both 19 years old, were cited for trespassing in Community Park after closing.

Officer Sansone stopped a vehicle on Clinton Road and Willow Street for speeding (50 mph). Upon further investigation, the vehicle was impounded and the driver, a 33-year-old Hicksville male, was charged with driving with a suspended license, improper plates, unregistered auto, uninsured operation and speeding.
May 5
Garden City detectives arrested a 21-year-old Plainview male for a felony charge of criminal sale of marijuana for an incident that occurred on South Avenue on April 29. A co-subject was previously arrested for this offense on the date of occurrence.
May 6
Garden City detectives are investigating a report of three subjects described as white males, ages 14-15, attempting to enter a vacant house on Main Avenue by breaking a basement window. There was no apparent entry into the residence.
May 7
Officers responded to a traffic light malfunction on Nassau Boulevard at South Avenue.
May 8
Officers investigated thefts from multiple vehicles during the overnight hours on Euston Road, Brompton Road and Merillon Avenue. Items stolen included loose change, a pocketbook and a briefcase.
May 9
Officers investigated two incidents where an unknown vehicle struck a parked vehicle and left the scene without stopping; one incident occurred at Adelphi University and the other incident occurred on Fifteenth Street.

Potted plants were reported stolen from the rear patio of a Maple Street residence.

Officers investigated a two-vehicle property damage crash on Clinton Road and St. James Street North where one of the vehicles left the scene without stopping.

A commercial vehicle inspection was conducted on Commercial Avenue at Clinton Road; 14 vehicles were inspected of which eight were placed out of service. Seventy-two tickets were issued for various traffic and safety violations including five overweight violations and one suspended license offense.
