First Place Winners In Code Quest Competition

Code_051616AThe team of Rachel Sterneck and Mark Kong won a first-place prize in the fifth annual Code Quest competition hosted by Lockheed Martin on April 30 in Morristown, NJ.
Code Quest is held in nine locations across the U.S. The competition tests the problem-solving abilities of the students by having them solve complex computer anomalies within a set amount of time. Teams of two students worked together for 2.5 hours to solve 17 problems of varying difficulty created by Lockheed Martin Information Technology professionals.

Roslyn High School’s team of Rachel Sterneck and Mark Kong entered the Code Quest competition at the Moorestown location for the first time.

“This was the first coding competition that the students have ever entered. In fact, it was the first coding competition Roslyn High School has entered in recent history,” said Faculty Advisor Brian Ciavarella. The students worked hard and put in significant time into preparing for the competition. Their work ethic and ingenuity allowed the team to earn first place in the novice level at their site.

“We are very proud of them and look forward to seeing what other amazing things these juniors will accomplish,” Ciavarella added.
