Students Become Digital Citizens At Stokes School

PosterContest_051816A

PosterContest_051816AThe NYS Office of Information Technology Services hosted a contest during the fall in conjunction with National Cyber Security Awareness Month activities. As a collaboration between art and library, Mrs. Pesiri’s library lessons on Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship blended into the art curriculum as Mrs. Kozloff encouraged students to submit a poster idea for this contest. The poster needed to creatively reflect Internet safety and what it means to be a Digital Citizen.

The goal of the collaboration was to engage students in thinking about Internet safety and to create a poster that will encourage their peers to use the Internet safely and securely.

The following Stokes students were recently recognized and given certificates from the state for their participation in the 2015-16 Kids Safe Online NYS Poster Contest: Sarah Fleishaker, Sofia Benvinetto, Katherine Lohman, Kayla Watson, Amber Mohmand, Sophia Kurkowski, Lorenzo Sicat and Gianna Montalvo.
