The Locust Valley Garden Club’s Bunco party, chaired by Eileen Duffy at Bailey Arboretum, was a huge success.
The two top winners in the round-robin-dice game, Joan Jachetta and Janet Schaub, received Fascinator hats made by Dagmar Karppi as their prize. As newsletter editor Dorothy Titus said, “It was fun and earned a goodly amount to help the garden club perform its missions.” That includes educating members on horticultural matters as well as service projects.
On Wednesday, June 8, Bill Erdmann is speaking on Mixed Container Gardening. It is just in time to discover more ways to enjoy plants both inside and outside your home. Additionally Ellen Minet, the rosiarian at Planting Fields, will talk on the history of the rose garden at Planting Fields. The work in the garden is done by dedicated volunteers. As you know, roses need lots of TLC.
The meeting starts at 10 a.m. in the mansion at Bailey Arboretum. The cost is $10, for which you will enjoy a potluck lunch prepared by members and lots of convivial conversation. If you want fun, a floral education and new friends, do call membership chair Gerry McKey at 615-671-8987.
