Manorhaven Blvd. Upgrade

Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton submitted an amendment to the County’s Capital Budget and Plan for $2 million in streetscape improvement funding. The amended plan, which was adopted by the County Legislature on March 7, will enhance the entire mile-long stretch of Manorhaven Boulevard over and above the $1 million allocated by the county to repave the entire road.Manorhavenstreetscape060816A

Initial planning is already underway for this streetscape improvement project. Some of the ideas discussed include new sidewalks and curbs, building façade upgrades, benches, attractive streetlamps, plantings
and more.

Before any plans are finalized, the community will be invited to review concepts and provide input. “These improvements are for everyone in the village, so we want everyone’s suggestions before we move forward,” Trustee Jim Avena said. “This is a sizable amount of money to improve Manorhaven Boulevard. These substantial enhancements will also help us accomplish the goal of attracting more businesses and visitors. We are so appreciative of Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton’s support for our village.”

The vision for this project is to completely turn the village’s main thoroughfare into a spectacular area that will serve its residents, attract visitors and create tremendous community pride.
