Letter to the Editor: Message From Mayor

As I complete my two terms as mayor of Manorhaven, I want to thank the residents for their support and trust. I ran to become mayor in an effort to fight the cell tower that was built on my block. I was a community activist standing up to fight something that I still believe had no business being built where it stands today. Over the past four years, we have accomplished wonderful things and overcame adversity. We survived Hurricane Sandy, and were complimented by FEMA for our outstanding work restoring the village more quickly and efficiently than most other communities. My term of office saw the creation and dedication of an outdoor 9/11 Memorial as well as a beautifully lit cabinet indoors containing a piece of steel from the fallen towers and other objects donated in tribute to those who perished. For the enjoyment of our canine friends and their owners, we created a dog park. The first phase of the Morgan’s Dock project has been completed, and the second phase has been planned and is ready to be implemented. Our annual Fall Street Fair has grown over the past four years, bringing more and more families together. Our pump station has been upgraded, and village hall will shortly undergo a makeover.
Our building records have been scanned for easy retrieval for residents’ use as well as preservation. For the safety of all, we were successful in passing a new local law, instituting a 25-mile per hour speed limit throughout the village.letters

Over the past four years, it has been my privilege to be your mayor. The help, support and input of so many active, concerned citizens aided me in making our village such a great place. Although I’m not running for reelection in order to spend more quality time with family and friends, I intend to remain active to make sure that our village continues on the positive road we are traveling together.
