The Mineola Junior Fire Department was recently honored at the Nassau County Executive’s Office for being the top junior fire department in New York State. County Executive Ed Mangano praised the junior firefighters for their dedication and hard work in receiving the honor. The juniors are the first junior fire department from Long Island to receive this prestigious award from the state through the years that the award has been presented. More than 500 junior fire departments qualified for this award with Mineola being chosen the best of the junior fire departments. The Village of Mineola and the Boy Scouts Explorer program have sponsored the junior program for 40 years and the Mineola Fire Department is so proud of these young adults for bringing this award to Mineola.
