Interested in participating in our Book Buddies Under the Stars program, going on Wednesdays this July? If you haven’t taken this training class before, you must take it in order to participate in Book Buddies. A training session will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Avenue. Book Buddies will be on Wednesday July 6, 13, 20 and 27, from 7 to 7:45 p.m. on the Central Avenue patio. Community service will be awarded for every night attended.

Movie: Trumbo
The Massapequ Bar Harbour auditorium will show a 1:30 and 6:30 p.m. screening of the movie Trumbo. In 1947, Dalton Trumbo (Bryan Cranston) was Hollywood’s top screenwriter until he and other artists were jailed and blacklisted for their politicalMassCal_062916D beliefs. Trumbo recounts how Dalton used words and wit to win two Academy Awards and expose the absurdity and injustice of the blacklist, which entangled everyone from gossip columnist Hedda Hopper (Helen Mirren) to John Wayne, Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.
