Major Case Bureau detectives of the Crimes Against Property Squad report the arrest of two men for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, July 5, at 9:03 p.m. in East Garden City.
According to detectives, 38-year-old Acie Wilson and 31-year-old Malik Smith attempted to make purchases utilizing numerous credit cards while inside Neiman Marcus at Roosevelt Field Mall. All transactions were declined. A loss prevention agent for the store became suspicious of the pair, followed them into the parking lot and observed them entering their car. After obtaining the license plate number, he called 911.
Third Precinct officers, after observing the vehicle operating towards Ring Road, pulled them over. A subsequent investigation revealed the men were both in possession of fraudulent credit cards as well as fraudulent Pennsylvania drivers licenses. They were then placed under arrest without incident.
Wilson is charged with seven counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and two vehicle and traffic law violations.
Smith is charged with four counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument.
Both defendants were arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on July 6.
