The Bryant Library’s annual Summer Reading Program is well underway. Young people are invited to come to the library to list the books they’ve just finished reading and borrow more great reads and read-aloud stories.
Prizes for young readers include pedometers, light-up parachutes, sport-themed hacky sacks, mini-beach balls and more. Every reading program member has a pedometer and over the summer they have collectively walked nearly 5 million steps.
Stop be the Children’s Department and see the progress they are making as they tour Roslyn sites. The library’s goal is 10 million steps. The program includes weekly raffle prizes for participants who give librarians their pedometer totals.
Another activity for young readers was a shark program presented by The Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum. Each participant excavated a real shark tooth and learned all about nature’s top athletic predator. Even a Pokemon character showed up.
