HOSA State Competition Winners

GNPSHOSA-SH_052516Members of South High School’s Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Club took home a trove of medals at the state competition, including more than a dozen first place medals.

HOSA develops leadership and technical skills through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional program.

Some 45 students competed and 27 advanced to the national level at the competition held in Nashville, TN, in late June. Students medaled in categories such as Creative Problem Solving, Clinical Nursing, Dental Science, Epidemiology, Forensic Medicine, Human Growth & Development, Medical Math, Medical Law, Medical Ethics, Pharmacology, Transcultural Health Care and Veterinary Science.

HOSA Club activities are self-funded. The faculty advisor is science teacher Dr. Steven Tringali.
