Sign Up For Library Card

A library card is free to all UFSD #22 residents. To sign up, bring two proofs of residency. Children will need the signature of a parent/guardian and a birth certificate. From Sept. 1-30, new residents who sign up for a library card will receive a book bag and a welcome kit.

Thursday, Sept. 8

Circus Storytime
At 6:30 p.m. for all ages and an adult. Register online. Join the library for stories and a craft about the circus.

Saturday, Sept. 10

Baby Explore
Register in person beginning Sept. 1. At 10 a.m. for ages 0-18 months and an adult. A special playtime and circle time designed specifically for little ones. Preference given to UFSD #22 residents. Proof of age required.

Monday, Sept. 12

Short Story Group
Join the library for a lively discussion of short stories at 10:30 a.m. You can pick up your copy at the Reference Desk.

Shopkins Fun
For all ages and an adult at 6 p.m. Online registration begins Sept. 5. Join the library for this Shopkins story/craft program. Preference given to UFSD #22 residents.

Tuesday, Sept. 13

Microsoft Excel
The library’s Chip Chat series continues with this look at the database program at 10 a.m. Register online. Learn how to do basic calculations, create formulas, and manipulate data in this class. First time computer users welcome. Preference given to UFSD #22 residents.

Matinée Movie
At 1:15 and 6:30 p.m., the library presents Eye in the Sky. Rated R, 103 minutes. A lieutenant general (Alan Rickman) and a colonel (Helen Mirren) face political opposition after ordering a drone missile strike to take out a group of suicide bombers in Nairobi, Kenya. In the event of a large turnout, residents with proof of residency in UFSD #22 will be admitted first.

Little Scientists
Register in person for this 6:30 p.m. program for children in ages 3-5 accompanied by an adult. Explore different areas of science by participating in hands-on activities and experiments. Proof of age required.

Wednesday, Sept. 14

Greener Earth
At 7 p.m. for children in age 3 to those entering third grade, accompanied by an adult. Cleaning can be great fun for children. In this activity, children will make their own nontoxic cleaning solution that can be used on everything. Proof of age required.

9/11: An American Requiem
Register online for this 7 p.m. screening of a documentary detailing the poignant, inspiring story of the journeys of many World Trade Center responders, from their memories of the scene of the disaster on 9/11 to their renewal 10 years later. Offers a glimpse into the profound long term effects of 9/11 via the voices of the responders. Although these accounts often relate sorrow and pain, they also celebrate our ability to transcend hardships and still maintain our humanity. This film is being presented by the Stony Brook WTC Wellness Program as part of its public education and outreach initiative.

Thursday, Sept. 15

How to Pay For College
Register online for this 7 p.m. program for students entering grades 11-12 and an adult. Educational consultants Jan and Tony Esposito will teach participants how to plan and manage college costs, the types of financial aid available, and the affordability myth of private versus public colleges.
