Fishing Enthusiasts Flock To The Snapper Derby

The day was beautiful and clear as more than 75 eager kids came to participate in the Manhasset Bay Sportsmen’s Club’s (MBSC) annual Richard Peneski Sr. Snapper Derby. Joe Guidice and his son Ray, along with a dozen helpers from the MBSC, handed out rods and bait for this fishing contest for boys and girls under 16 years of age at the town dock. Though it was tough going for some fisherman, some fluke and a sea robin were caught. The kids enjoyed a raffle and won some nice fishing poles and special raffle prizes, and all enjoyed hot dogs and beverages to make it a wonderful morning.
