Floral Park 9/11 Morning Of Remembrance

Not unlike so many communities around the country and the tri-state area, the Village of Floral Park had its own ceremony to observe the 15th anniversary of the atrocities that happened on September 11, 2001. Gathered in front of the 9/11 relic that sits on the lawn of the Floral Park Fire Department were rows of chairs.

With roughly 60 to 80 people in attendance, various officials ranging from Mayor Thomas Tweedy to a number of religious leaders took to the podium to offer prayers and memories. Aside from bells tolling at the United Methodist Church to mark when the towers were struck and the recitation of names, a heavy silence hung over the proceedings with the only sounds being that of a passing train or the flapping of pigeons that were flying overhead.
