Roslyn resident Lindsey Rust won a bronze medal in the Lightweight Junior High School Event at the World Indoor Rowing Championships on Sunday, Feb. 12.

In a field of over 100 junior rowers, Rust had a great race and was able to row a personal best of 7:25.3 over the distance of 2,000 meters. Rust attends Roslyn High School and rows for Port Rowing in Port Washington, a nonprofit community rowing club.

Port Rowing coach Isa Rahman described the exciting finish of the race. “Lindsey was in seventh place with only 500 meters left,” he noted. “She went into overdrive, overtaking her competitors to finish in third place.”

The sprints are the annual indoor regatta held in Boston and attract all the best indoor rowers from the U.S. and other countries. The rowers compete individually on indoor rowing machines also known as ergometers.
