The federal and state governments have mandated that all school districts implement a breakfast program for students. Based on a survey of Jericho School District sent to parents of children currently enrolled in K-5 in the Cantiague and Seaman elementary schools, the district is requesting an exemption from the breakfast program for these schools for the 2017-18 school year. The results of the survey indicate that more than 80 percent of those responding would not use the program. The George Jackson Elementary School had a pilot breakfast program for the first six months of 2008-09 school year. The average daily participation was 10 for the six-month period, thereby granting Jackson School exempt from the breakfast program. If any parents have questions or concerns regarding the request for the one year exemption, please contact Mr. Victor P. Manuel, Assistant Superintendent for Business, 516-203-3600 ext. 3214, or Tracy Gilet, director of Food Service, ext. 3258.
