A 19-year-old Plainview woman received fake bombs in the mail on three separate occasions in November 2017, and the man allegedly responsible for sending the threats has been arrested.
According to police, James Dickerson, 22, of South Carolina, built false bombs containing ammonium nitrate, a radioactive uranium ore sample and a pressure cooker containing thumbtacks delivered to the Plainview woman between Nov. 17 and 20 of last year. Cops said that Dickerson had initially made contact with the woman over the Internet.
Following an investigation, Dickerson was extradited to Nassau County from Charleston County, SC. Police charged him with three counts of placing a false bomb or hazardous substance, second-degree harassment and first-degree harassment.
The Nassau County Police Department Special Investigation Squad was joined in the investigation by the New York City Police Department, FBI-Joint Terrorism Task Force, New York State Police and the North Charleston Police Department.
