East Hills resident Barbara Kaplan has had quite a run with the annual All Kids Fair. This year, the fair returns for its eighth annual time with a Sunday, April 29 all-day event at the Hilton Long Island in Huntington.
This year’s fair features new attractions and guests while bringing back favorites from years past.
A new addition to the Sunday, April 29 event is The Butterfly Experience. Children and adults will be able to watch the multi-colored butterflies flying around in a huge tent, or, for a small fee, will be able to enter the tent with a feeding stick and have the butterflies come to them.
QuackerJack, the beloved mascot of the Long Island Ducks, will be visiting from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to delight Long Island’s children. Alexa Cox, Miss Long Island Teen 2018, will be available for a meet-and-greet from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sophie Bravo from Food Network’s Chopped Junior will be doing a lemon bars demonstration and meet-and-greet from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Since moving to its larger venue, the fair has been able to accommodate a bounce house, petting zoo, and additional vendors and classes, which was enjoyed by 2500 people this past April.
Children will enjoy a large number of additional activities and freebies, including face painting, photo booth, balloon animals, popcorn, cotton candy, train tables, water ice samples, a video game trailer, and an 8½-foot snake and other animals to touch.
Admission is $5 per person and free for ages 2 and younger and includes everything listed.
Ever year the fun-filled All Kids Fair offers exciting educational and health activities to interest kids and their families. The Fair offers choices for toddlers through high school, including kids who have special needs or are gifted. Over 80 exhibitor spaces in addition to classes in six classrooms throughout the day provide valuable information while entertaining all. Exhibitors include schools, camps, after school activities, birthday party ideas, and college planning. Some of the many classes that children can share with their parents and grandparents are dance, soccer, music, salon party, programming robots, and Boomers! Birthday Bash.
Ganimet Brija of Coram, who attended the event in 2017, enthusiastically shared “My son had a blast, and everyone was so helpful and friendly.” Noshina Amhad of Valley Stream added “I really love this event…already waiting for [the] next event.”
Attendees who like to pay forward to charitable groups are encouraged to bring used and new books and money for donation to The Book Fairies, who will share them with children in need. Those who do will receive raffle tickets to win a variety of donated prizes.
