Award-winning jeweler Glenn Bradford moved one storefront over on Main Street for a larger space and more relaxed feel, so the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce held a grand re-opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for Glenn and his wife Sharyn on May 2. Originally having opened in Roslyn in 2001 and later moving to Port Washington in 2004, Glenn Bradford is currently celebrating 30 years of creating signature jewelry pieces with a bright, open space.

“We signed the lease last April, we started renovating and we were done and able to move in here in October of last year,” said Glenn. “We outgrew the space. In the interim we had opened up a second store in Southampton, so we really honed in our visual aesthetic of what we wanted the shop to look like. We built out the visual aesthetic to be consistent for our brand. This space is very zen so it’s a welcoming environment.”

Sharyn’s Buddha paintings adorn the walls of exposed brick as Glenn’s one-of-a-kind jewelry creations fill carefully designed displays. Glenn explained that he creates jewelry with a deeper meaning, having collaborated with his wife by incorporating words from her paintings into hand-sculpted pieces.

“I’m best known for my bespoke work, where clients come to me with the contents of their jewelry boxes and we go on these major design journeys, reinventing what people own that are prized and sentimental,” said Glenn. “If someone lost a loved one recently, we may harvest those diamonds and gems and create something new and magical.”

While the business is about jewelry creation, Glenn also explained that he and Sharyn like to get involved in the community whenever they can, having launched the campaign to save Hempstead House at the Sands Point Preserve two years ago, a yearly shop for charity event and other cultural and cocktail events tied to charity.

“It’s part of the core of our business that we’re embedded in our communities both here and in Southampton,” said Glenn.

Glenn Bradford is now located at 277 Main St.
