A large overflowing bowl of pink raffle tickets demonstrated the commitment of the Woman’s Club of Glen Cove to the welfare of its town. Funds raised at this year’s luncheon, held recently at Westbury Manor, will help support the Interfaith Nutrition Network (INN), Melillo Foundation for mental health and SAGE Foundation for senior well-being.
Pastor Shawn Williams of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church thanked the club members for helping to keep the community going, adding, “If you weren’t there, people would notice.”
President Gloria Grynkorn, of East Norwich, chaired the annual fundraiser. Teri Swenson, past chair of the fundraising fashion show, was all smiles at the event, which included a Plaza Production of Funny Girl.
Grynkorn thanked her Raffle Basket Prize committee—Myla Borucke, Judy Reimels and Stella Shank—for their eye-appealing packaging of community and business donations to raise funds.
Westbury Manor was ablaze with awe-inspiring floral arrangements, heralding that spring had arrived. Everyone went home with a brochure, compliments of Stevenson Printing, listing all the merchants who donated goods and services to raise funds for the three charities.
The final amounts will be announced at the next meeting, where Elvis will be in the house, compliments of The Regency Assisted Living.
