I am writing to express my concern for the Domestic Gag Rule that would affect Title X funding. If enacted, this gag rule would affect the more than 4 million people who rely on Title X for the access to affordable, preventative healthcare it provides. At a time in our country when healthcare and reproductive rights are under ongoing attacks, it is vital we speak out against any threats.
The gag rule would make it illegal for doctors, nurses, hospitals, community health centers and any other provider in the Title X program to tell patients how they can safely and legally access abortion. It would impose new rules designed to make it impossible for millions of patients to get birth control and preventive care at Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood centers provide compassionate and comprehensive care. Our community relies on them, it would devastate us without them.
I call upon all of us to submit an official comment to www.bit.ly/nogaghhs to express our opposition to this Domestic Gag Rule. I am counting on us as a community to do the right thing and voice our concerns against injustice.
