Do you have what it takes to dance at NYCB Live?
The Long Island Nets Kids Dance Team will be holding auditions for boys and girls ages 6-13 at the “Yes We Can” Center, 141 Garden St. in Westbury on Saturday, Aug. 11.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. and dancers must arrive by 10:30 a.m. to participate. Dancers should have at least two years of dance training and must demonstrate their ability to learn and perform choreography.
One parent or legal guardian must be present at registration to sign a participation waiver. Only those auditioning will be allowed into the gymnasium. Finalists may be kept until 9:30 p.m.
Dancers who are selected must be available to attend rehearsals on Long Island once a week as well as select home games at NYCB Live, Home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. All dance team members will be paid.
Dance team hopefuls can get a leg up on the competition during clinics at the “Yes We Can” Center on Wednesday, Aug. 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. or Saturday, Aug. 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. At this session, attendees will learn a Nets Kids routine and receive auditions tips. Different Long Island Nets Kids choreography will be taught at each session. The cost of each session is $50.
