For the second year in a row, in support of wounded veterans, Tom Kalb and his firm Concrete Solutions Lab of Farmingdale, will be championing their Raise the Flag fundraiser.
With the Raise the Flag program, property owners are provided with a fully installed 15-foot-tall exterior flagpole and American flag, as well as having a contribution of $100 made in their name to Wounded Warrior Project (WWP)—the national nonprofit organization assisting injured servicemen and women. A fee of $250 is collected from participating home and business owners to cover the donation and the cost of flagpole and installation materials. All labor to complete the installation is donated by Concrete Solutions Lab.
“Last year as Veterans Day approached, with all the controversies in the public eye, I was inspired to do something truly positive for those who served in our military and need our help,” said Tom Kalb, president and founder of Concrete Solutions Lab. “I wanted to show how we can come together to support our service members who are injured. They need not only our gratitude, but our assistance, and a donation to WWP as well as a flag for contributors is a great way to help them, pay tribute to their service and provide a constant reminder of our freedom they defend.”
One family who participated in the Raise the Flag project last year was the Roth family of Levittown. Their son had just joined the U.S. Air Force and was leaving for basic training when they heard about the Concrete Solutions Lab flagpoles project.
“We always wanted a flag pole,” said Kim Roth, who reached out to Kalb and Concrete Solutions Lab. “Tom explained that he was actually installing the flagpoles to raise awareness for Wounded Warrior Project and we were in. We see the importance of this great organization, especially since we have a son currently serving in the United States Air Force. We are happy to have made a donation to Wounded Warrior Project.”
Last year, Kalb and his team installed 11 flagpoles and raised more than $1,300 for WWP.
