SportsBasketballThe Great Neck North High Blazers Varsity Basketball team hosted Carey High School on Wednesday, Feb. 6, and it was an exciting game on senior night. The Blazers fell short, though, with the final score of 55-53.

Nick Giacalone made the go-ahead jump shot from the free-throw line with three seconds remaining to lead Carey 4-9 in Nassau A-II. Kyle Kamali and Jackson Cronin both scored
22 points for Great Neck North.

On Saturday, Feb. 9, in the final game of the season, Number 1 in the county, Elmont, came to town.

Although the Blazers lost, the team competed well led by the four seniors—Sean Mac, Gio Nouriely, Kamali and Noah Hakim.

Big congrats to Kamali, who was nominated All Conference. It’s a well-deserved honor for the guard, who averaged 15 points per game this year despite suffering a broken nose halfway through the season. He scored 53 three pointers this season, which ranks him in the top 10 in Long Island public high schools for the year.

Stay tuned for a tribute to the seniors in our final report of the season.
