Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor Joseph Saladino and members of the town board, in continuing their ongoing campaign to increase transparency and ethics in the town, appointed Hal Simon of Plainview as the newest member of the Town of Oyster Bay’s Board of Ethics. Simon will serve on the panel through Dec. 31, 2022.
“I welcome Mr. Simon to the Board of Ethics and thank him for volunteering his time to serving the public on this important committee, which helps advance accountability and transparency at Town Hall,” said Saladino. “To restore the public’s trust in government, my administration has appointed this new independent Board of Ethics, as well as an inspector general who once worked with the CIA, FBI and DEA. Together, we demand the highest level of ethics and accountability in government.”
The town board unanimously appointed Simon as the newest member of the Board of Ethics on June 18. Simon, a corporate supervisor for Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen establishments, works professionally to streamline operations and maximize team performance. In a press release by the town, they state that Simon, throughout his career, “has demonstrated strong communication, planning and problem solving abilities.” They believe he is going to help keep the town a better place.
In a statement to the Plainview-Old Bethpage Herald, Simon expressed how this position means a lot to him as someone who grew up in the area.
“As a concerned resident of the Town of Oyster Bay for almost 50 years, I feel I can be an asset to the town to help insure the integrity of the town’s contracting decisions,” said Simon. “I grew up in Massapequa and presently live with my family in Plainview. We have always enjoyed the beauty and open spaces the town has to offer. I am happy to offer my help to return the integrity of the town’s business relationships, and my skills and achievements can be an asset to the Town of Oyster Bay and its residents.”
