Ticket sales for the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach have been temporarily suspended due to technical difficulties, according to the New York State  Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

Parking passes to Jones Beach for May 28-30 went on sale on Monday at 9 a.m. for people to purchase online ahead of the popular event. However, the site seemingly could not handle the influx of visitors to the site and experienced long loading times and other technical troubles.

“A new date for ticket sales will be announced in the near future. All purchases completed today will be honored,” the state’s parks office released in an official statement. “State Parks appreciates the patience of Air Show enthusiasts as we strive to meet the challenges of holding this large-scale event in a safe manner. We recognize the importance of this event and we are committed to ensuring everyone has a fair chance and adequate notice to obtain a ticket.”

Jones Beach will be limited to 50 percent capacity this summer, including for the air show, which was canceled entirely last year due to Covid-19. The special event parking passes are $10 each and are required to enter the beach on the dates of the Memorial Day Weekend event: May 28, 29 and 30.

The state parks office encouraged residents to check for updates on its website, social media pages, and mobile app.
