After a year hiatus, on June 5 the Munsey Park Women’s Club (MPWC) Philanthropic, Inc. held their 11th Annual Kids Fun Run and Fair. The community supported event had approximately 200 children running, walking or scootering the one mile race. In the spirit of a true fun run, all children ages 2-12 “won” the race and received a medal upon completion.
After the run, the kids enjoyed playing games and entering tickets for donated raffle prizes. Volunteers from Manhasset Girl Scout Troops 516 and 544 helped run the water station along the race and ran the fair and bake sale.
This fundraising event will benefit SCA’s Project Share, which will use the monies raised to purchase back-to-school items and other necessities for economically at-risk students in the community. Additionally, MPWC has awarded its first ever Spirit of Community Scholarship to a graduating senior who demonstrates exceptional service to the community.
The Fun Run thanks their legacy sponsors Americana Manhasset, Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Real Estate, For Five Coffee Roasters, Mayweather Boxing and Fitness and Unlimited Sports Action. New corporate sponsors this year included EverAfter and Midre Contracting Corporation.
