Recently at the GFWC (General Federation of Women’s Clubs) Island Metro District Cultural Arts Event, local Farmingdale resident/third-grader Jasmine Lyons was awarded First Place for “Skiing,” a creative writing story she submitted through the Women’s Club of Farmingdale.
Lyons is the granddaughter of WCF Treasurer Catherine Sewell and because of her First Place award, her creative writing story was then submitted to GFWC-NYS in a competition with all student First Place creative writing winners from all over the New York State area. And, once again, she received an award certificate for First Place, which is the first time a student creative writing entry submitted through the WCF has ever achieved a First Place award at both levels. The Women’s Club of Farmingdale wishes to congratulate her for this rare accomplishment.
Lyons was presented with her First Place Certificate by GFWC-NYS Creative Writing District Chairman Dolores Cianciabella. Also present were GFWC-NYS President Linda Kreussling and WCF Treasurer Catherine Sewell.
