Manhasset Public Schools Launches Community Poll For New Team Name

M

As part of its next step in identifying a new team name as mandated by Part 123 of the New York State Education Department Commissioner’s Regulations, Manhasset Public Schools will hold a community poll from Monday, April 15 through Sunday, April 21.
“We are committed to involving our school community in this endeavor to select a team name that will inspire passion and pride throughout the district,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gaurav Passi. “Our objective is to create a team name that encapsulates Manhasset’s distinctive character, culture, traditions, and history and symbolizes our strive toward excellence while projecting a positive image for the Manhasset Public Schools. Our new team name should be one all community members can proudly associate with.”
The process of identifying a new team name began by soliciting suggestions from the greater Manhasset community. A committee was then formed to review the results. Manhasset Secondary School students were then surveyed to narrow down the list of the proposed names. The next step in the process is to conduct a community poll of the top three choices.
The three preferred team name choices in alphabetical order from the district’s student survey are Eagles, Manhasset or “Set” and Mavericks. For more information on each of these options, as well as to participate in the community poll, visit the district’s website, www.manhassetschools.org, beginning Monday, April 15.
